I caught myself

by Aleza Freeman

I caught myself
before I fell
to where the
creepy crawlies dwell,
before I rolled in
mud and dirt,
attracting mold
beneath my skirt.

I caught myself,
brushed off my knees,
brushed aside
my inner tease, and

with my pride,
I held myself,
these wobbly feet a
fickle guide.
