Broken by the fall

by AF

Fix me,

he seemed to scream

in the white noise of

wide ocean eyes and

puppy dog stares,

a lost, selfish soul

a cold, gaping hole.

I fell hard, long,

into the empty void,

sucked into the static,

merging with unhitched shadows,

the adrenaline rush of

magnetic darkness.

Those walls, they seemed to go on

Nothing to grip onto,

nothing to gain,

nothing left to give

no place to step for balance,

no way to transmit a signal

I …

kept …

tumbling …

down …

I was broken by the fall.

That was the greatest gift of all.
