The Wall

by Aleza Freeman

The wall at the top of the
first flight of stairs,
has many tiny holes,

the consequence of
hasty picture hanging,
no time for patching or paint.

Many of these imperfections
are easily covered up
by strategic picture placement,

memories and moments
on display inside
simple pine wood frames.

But most dwell in plain sight,
demanding attention, on
a wall in need of closure.
