There’s a 13-foot boa constrictor
preying on my brain,

a nocturnal emotion conflictor
(he’s conflicting me insane).

A suffocating sentence of
solitary repentance,

there’s way too much to shed,
(and yet it’s only in my head).

Time Punching

If I could grab time
around the neck,
I’d choke her nearly breathless
like a jealous sibling,
I’d push her head underwater
and hold her there indefinitely,
shake her silly and
punch her in the face.

Forgive me for wanting
to beat the clock.
It’s not that I’m a violent person,
I just can’t seem to get ahead
of the game.

Time probably wouldn’t even stop.
She’d just go on taunting:
“Tic Toc, Tic Toc, Tic Toc.”

At the edge of the galaxy
I opened a door,
it swung right into
a candy store,
with rocket pops and
moon pies galore,
mars bars walls and
a milky way floor.

Couldn’t help feeling
I’d been there before.
Guess that’s why I
came back for more.

Just pondering life
in this room full of treats,
that’s when it hits me
Life is Sweet!

Harry’s skin
is so terribly thin

A poet whom I quite admire, Jaymie Thorne, sent me an awesome birthday present earlier this week. It is a cool green hat which she knitted herself. Jaymie is a very crafty lady who also does a beautiful job knitting words. As my way of saying “Thank You,” I wanted to post a little something to show Jaymie that her hat is enjoying life in its new home!

One fish. Two fish.
If I could have any wish:

I’d fly to the moon
in a pastel balloon

while dining on knish.

I’d bring Thing 1 & Thing 2,
we’d sail off in a striped canoe,

I’d tip my tall hat,
lick my fur like a cat,

paint outerspace red and blue.

If I bumped into Dr. Seuss
I’d toast to him with grape juice,

and we’d probably share green eggs and ham,
cause that’s the kind of fan I am!

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born 107 years ago today. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss.

An ode to douchebags

(A not-so-nursery rhyme-tastic ditty)

Douchebag, douchebag
lower than dirt, with a
spray tan beeyotch
and Ed Hardy shirt.
You think you’re so hot
you think you’re so fly
but you look like a fool
you’ve offended my eye.

You think you’re special
like Charlie Sheen,
but your Tiger Blood claim
is flat out obscene.
I’ve had it with douchebags
and douchebaggery,
what happened to
old fashioned chivalry?

Douchebag, douchebag
go away,
a douche today,
is a douchebag to stay.
Jump off a bridge or
move to Bombay*,
and don’t come back
another day.

*Mumbai was formerly known as Bombay. It was renamed in 1995 (thanks @NotATameLion and Kavita). But Mumbai doesn’t really rhyme with “stay” sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo there ya go … your history lesson o’ the day.

She waited for her
man in tights,
toes dangling from
the ledge

spent her share of
sleepless nights, ’til
she walked
right over the edge.

Nobody swooped in
to save her.
No hero to
soften the blow.

No happily
ever after. Just
a tragic end to
a one-woman show.
